Regency Dress and Presentation is a free browser wardrobe game, part of the game The Accomplished Young Lady. You dress a young lady for three occasions in a single Regency day, a morning receiving callers at home, an afternoon promenade, and an evening assembly. For each one you choose her gown, what she wears at the throat, what she wears on her head, and her gloves, then present her to the governess, who judges the outfit against the rules of the period and either lets her leave the room or stops her at the door with a reprimand. Your outfits are scored and turned into a letter grade that is carried to the game's player card. No sign up or download is required.

Dress and Presentation

A young lady changes her clothes 3 or 4 times a day, and every change has rules. Dress her for a morning at home, an afternoon walk, and an evening assembly, and let the governess look you over before you leave the room.

Edmund Blair Leighton, 'The New Governess' (1894), a young woman in white on the step of a school for young ladies

The Lesson

The governess has laid out the wardrobe and will not let you dress yourself unwatched. You will have 3 occasions to prepare for, one after another. For each one you choose the gown, what goes at the throat, what goes on the head, and the gloves, and then you present yourself. She will either let you go or send you back to the glass.

A right choice for one hour of the day is a wrong choice for another. That is the whole difficulty.
