Wellfleet, Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Nauset Light stands watch over the Cape's outer shore with the sort of stoic dignity one wishes more lighthouses still possessed, its red-and-white stripe visible for miles along the dunes. The day was properly concluded with fried clams at Moby Dick's, a Wellfleet institution and, in my carefully considered opinion, home to some of the best seafood on Cape Cod.
